Salisbury, in Chariton County, is a progressive and vibrant community
in the heart of central Missouri. It is served by State Highway 129
and US Highway 24, about 45 miles northwest of Columbia.
The original owner of the Salisbury town site was Prior Bibo, a
soldier in the War of 1812.
Area and regional attractions and things to do include the local
Farmer's Market each Saturday in the summer, the Salisbury Steak
Festival, the Chariton County Relay for Life, the Chariton County
Historical Society and Museum, and the nearby Walt Disney Hometown
Museum in Marceline, MO.
Local recreational opportunities include the James C. Philpotts
Memorial Park which features 2 playgrounds, 2 ball fields, a walking
trail, Pine Ridge Lake and the 200-acre Salisbury Municipal Golf
Course.
